Akhilesh Gundecha is one of the famous Gundecha brothers: his brothers Umakant and Ramakant are prominent disciples of dhrupad master Zia Fariduddin Dagar. Akhilesh learned from Raja Chatrapati Singh and Shrikant Misra. This excerpt is taken from a film of the Gundecha brothers in which they sing this dhrupad in Komal Rishabh Asavari. Akhilesh accompanies the composition in chautal, showing a very good sense of dramatic timing and an understanding of the aesthetics of vocal accompaniment.
