| Lakshmi Narayan Pawar |
| |
| I recorded this solo on March 9,
1984, at the Vrindavan Dhrupad Mela, where I conducted many fascinating
interviews with pakhavaj players. Lakshmi Nayaran Pawar
belongs to the silsila of Nana Panse of Indore, and thus
his pakhavaj repertoire and style differs considerably from
most of the other greats represented here. In this excerpt he plays
three chakradars: their rhythmic impetus and structural
design convey a different, less overtly dramatic musical style than
the Kudau Singh silsila of pakhavaj. |
